This will save your neck
One of the most overlooked yet important parts of creative work.
Is this you right now?

Or maybe this?

Did you know that sitting like that over long periods of times can almost be like a trauma to your body?
Creative people are usually chronically online. From social media, to developing projects, and even during our “rest” time, we always seem to have a piece of screen glued to our face.
That’s why it’s all the more important to start taking care of your body now. The neck is virtually connected to almost every part of your body in a way. That’s why neck injuries are very serious. And yet if they are so serious, why do we bend our necks like a giraffe for hours as if that isn’t damaging our bones?

So what can you do?
Well, a large part of it has to do with your computer setup. It’s recommended to have an adjustable table and an ergonomic chair where you can get proper back support and adjust it to your liking. If you don’t have that setup, then try your best to prop yourself in a way that matches the following images.

The ideal posture
You first want to make sure your body and arms are resting at 90 degrees. Your feet should be flat on the ground. Don’t reach? Put a little box under with the desired height. I’ve been using a box from a package I received months ago and it does the trick.
I also have a keyboard without a numpad as I found my shoulder had to be rotated to reach my mouse more with one.

You should make sure your eyes are aligned with the top of the monitor. You shouldn’t have to move your neck up and down too much - move your eyes to the part of the screen you want to see.
Finally, make sure to take breaks, do stretching EVERY DAY, yes everyday, drink lots of water, and go on walks. This is also great for your mental health as it gives you some time to refresh. It’s a lot of work, but your health is one of the most important things you can have, and if you have a chance to prevent or make it better, why not do it?
If you listen TO ANYTHING I say, it should be this. You’ll thank me in a few years when you hear all of your friends complaining of back and wrist pain.
A small BUMBI sneak peek
On a lighter note, I’ve been making great progress on my game rebrand. If you’re new, I’m working on a cute precision platformer called BUMBI. I decided to completely change the art, and I’m going to give you a small sneak peek.
The game went from this:

To this:

I’ll talk a bit more about it in upcoming newsletters. I’m planning on finishing the art upgrade and then making a Steam trailer.
If you’d like to support me, wishlisting helps me a lot and it’s completely FREE woah
See you next week!
